After giving birth, women often have questions about their weight.

The time after giving birth (postpartum) is a time of change. Women may wonder how to find the time to be physically active and eat healthfully as they adjust to being a mother and caring for a new baby.

Many women make healthful changes to their eating and activity habits when pregnant. By continuing to eat healthfully and being active most days after you have your baby, you will protect and improve your health. It will also support your health if you choose to become pregnant again. Making physical activity and healthy eating life-long habits for you and your family will also help you be a healthy role model for your child.

You can promote a healthy weight by making healthy eating and active living family priorities, listening to your body, planning ahead, and making healthy choices.

Making lifestyle changes can be challenging for a variety of reasons. Some women report that lack of time, other commitments, lack of money, and lack of support from their partner, family, or friends make it hard to change.
