Get moving

As much as post-partum comes with a lot of stress and pressure that most mums will not even think about exercise, keeping moving helps to burn calories which will help you lose that baby weight faster. For most women that will only be possible after six weeks. Well moving does not have to be intense, it can be just walking around your house and you can always increase the intensity with time until you are ready for a real exercise.


Breastfeeding can be demanding as the body needs an extra of about 500 calories a day. It is therefore a great way of burning those calories and losing weight. There are some women who are lucky who can lose their baby weight by just breastfeeding especially if they did not gain so much weight during their pregnancy.

Weight training

Weight training is an easy way of increasing your metabolism which will help you burn calories fast and loose weight. A good way to start is by incorporating your baby into the training especially if the baby is still very young. You can do lunges by holding your baby into your chest. You can get personal training videos on YouTube or from blogs where you can learn on how to do it.

Watch your diet

Diet has a big influence on losing weight. You should keep a watch on your calorie intake and avoid foods with empty calories such as soda and junk food. Instead incorporate whole meal foods to your diet and foods rich in fiber as they will help you be healthier. You should also only take healthy fats that will not increase your cholesterol levels. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, lean protein and whole grains is also highly advised. Cutting down on sugar is a great way of reducing the calorie level which can aid in weight loss. It is also not advisable to go on a diet right after birth as your body needs time to get repaired and for the hormones to bounce back to normal.

Get plenty of sleep

Getting enough sleep has a correlation with weight loss. Lack of enough sleep may compel one to engage in high calories and high sugar foods for energy. Enough sleep allows for complete metabolism to take place hence proper digestion which will ensure proper release of energy and that will help you to lose weight.
